Who owns Stake?
Press reports link Stake.com to Medium Rare N.V., a Curaçao company, and to Easygo, an Australian-founded group (founders Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani, per press). We could not read Stake's own terms to confirm this, so the owner link is "reported", not verified. A leaked Curaçao registry from September 2026 reportedly shows its new licence application as under assessment.

Who is behind it
Easygo was founded in 2016. Easygo Group Holdings Pty Ltd lists Stake, Stake Engine and the streaming site Kick as its products. The US sweepstakes site stake.us runs through a separate company, Sweepsteaks Ltd.
License and what it means for you
Curaçao gives players much less protection than the UK or Malta. Check if online casinos are legal where you live before you play. We could not confirm Stake's current licence status.

Legal actions
In August 2026 Florida's Attorney General sued Stake over alleged illegal gambling and deceptive marketing. In August 2025 the Los Angeles City Attorney filed a civil suit against Sweepsteaks Ltd alleging unlicensed gambling. In June 2025 Arizona sent Stake.us a cease-and-desist letter; Stake.us left Arizona in August 2025. Michigan (2024) and, per a secondary report, Maryland (2025) also sent cease-and-desist letters. The claims in the lawsuits are not proven.
In February 2025 the UK licensee TGP Europe agreed to close the Stake UK site after a UK Gambling Commission probe into an unofficial advert.
