How we count
- A fine is a regulator, prosecutor or court action against a casino or betting company with a published money amount: fines, civil penalties and regulatory settlements. Warnings, cease-and-desist letters, licence actions and lawsuits without money are not in the totals.
- Euro conversion: amounts stay in the original currency. Euro values use one fixed table of rounded rates for every fine, whatever its date. For the currencies on this page: 1 GBP = €1.17 · 1 USD = €0.92 · 1 SEK = €0.088 · 1 CAD = €0.67 · 1 HUF = €0.0025 · 1 UAH = €0.022 · 1 AUD = €0.6. Use the euro values for ranking only, and quote the original amount.
- Fines from before a takeover stay with the company that was fined. They do not count for the group that bought it later.
- Date and duplicates: a fine counts for 2026 when its date in our data is in 2026. When two sources give the same fine, we keep one record.
- Coverage: our data holds 421 regulator and court actions from 43 regulators, prosecutors and courts, from official registers and notices. The first monetary fine in our data is from 2017. See all regulators we track. It is not every gambling fine. Nevada, New South Wales and most land-based casino regulators are not tracked. Every "largest" on this page means the largest in our data.
What this means for players
- A fine shows that a regulator found a failure. One group runs many brands, so read the group's fines on its owner page before you play. See all owner groups.
- None of the fines of 2026 in our data came from an offshore regulator (Curaçao, Anjouan or Kahnawake). No fines on record does not mean that a site is safe. It can mean that nobody checks it. What a casino licence means.
